Creative Photography Workshop
Cévennes hills, Southern France
6th - 11th September 2026
An immersive photographic retreat - landscapes, perception and creative practice.
I am an exhibited photographer living in the Cévennes. Here, I have developed a long-term practice exploring landscape, transitions and time in my garden and the surrounding hills. This workshop is a Learning Insights collaboration with renowned photographer and teacher Wendy Bagnall. Wendy and I have complementary ways of approaching creative photography. Together, we are offering a small-group immersive retreat designed to support personal exploration, visual development, and a deeper engagement with landscape through photography.
This retreat will enable you to explore intentional camera movement, in-camera multiple exposures and multiple exposure curated using Adobe Photoshop.
The Cévennes
The Cévennes National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site in southern France, is a landscape of rugged hills, chestnut forests, ancient stone terraces, and shifting light. One of the least populated regions in France, it remains deeply quiet and untouched by mass tourism. It offers exciting opportunities for photography from vast open views and ancient granite outcrops to honeyed sunsets.
It is a landscape shaped by time where curiosity and patience reward you.
Our approach
During the workshop we will explore:
Creative responses to the landscape
Working with movement, light, and perception
Multiple exposure and in-camera experimentation
Layered image-making in Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop*
Developing a personal visual language
These approaches are offered as tools within a broader practice of observation and interpretation.
*To fully benefit from this workshop, you will need to bring your own laptop with Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop
About Us
Louise Sayers
An exhibiting photographer whose work focuses on long-term observation of landscape in the Cévennes, using photography as a way of exploring transformation, time, and place.
Exhibiting at the RHS Photography Show, Saatchi Gallery (2026).
Wendy Bagnall
Wendy’s work is inspired by the natural landscape, using light, texture and form to create images that evoke an intuitive and emotional response.
Exhibited at the Royal Academy of Arts Summer Exhibition, London and the Toronto Photography Exhibition.
Our location
Our home for the five days is Mas Rouveyrac, a restored stone farmhouse set within 27 acres of chestnut groves, terraces, and streams within the National Park of the Cévennes.
Panoramic views, open skies, and shifting light provide continuous creative inspiration. The house has been renovated with eco-conscious principles and offers both comfort and simplicity in a deeply natural setting.
There is time built into the workshop for rest, reflection and immersion in the landscape.
