I am a photographer and writer living for the last 20 years in an old stone house perched above a valley in the Cévennes National Park in southern France. My naturalistic garden full of drought tolerant local species and the surrounding hills are an endless source of joy and creative inspiration.
Through photography, I explore the tension between fragility and resilience in the natural world and the shifting relationship between light and shadow. I am drawn to patterns, textures and fleeting forms, often moving toward abstraction as a way of expressing my emotional response to my surroundings.
I like wild places.
After completing a degree in education, I taught in the UK and Kenya before a desire for adventure led me to run expeditions in the remote Kenyan bush and guide photographic journeys across East Africa. These experiences honed how I see, sharpening my awareness of subtle changes in light and form and now inform the way I work with others - helping them develop their own visual sensitivity and creative skills.
