Lou Sayers is a fine art photographer and writer living and working in the Cévennes National Park in Southern France for almost two decades. She has developed a practice grounded in sustained observation of the natural world and enduring interest in how we experience place.

Her photographs explore the threshold between representation and abstraction, using light, texture and form to express the quiet tensions between fragility and resilience, permanence and change. Rather than describing landscape her work seeks to evoke its atmosphere and emotional presence, inviting a slower and more attentive way of seeing.

Originally trained as an educator Sayers taught in UK and Kenya before spending many years leading safaris in remote areas of Kenya and East Africa. These experience continue to inform her visual language fostering an insticktive sensitivity to light, rhythm and the subtle patterns that emerge through close observation?.

Alongside her photographic practice, Sayers leads workshops exploring creativity within the landscape. Drawing on her background in education and her belief that sustained attention and curiosity are at the heart of artistic practice.
